Guatemala La Esmeralda Washed – Acatenango (Hermes Perez Farm)
A standout specialty coffee from the La Esmeralda farm — a staple in our lineup that we proudly return to year after year. Situated in the prestigious Acatenango micro-region (Chimaltenango department), the farm rests within the heart of Guatemala’s volcanic belt. Influenced by Pacific breezes and mineral-rich volcanic soil, this unique terroir yields beans of exceptional depth and elegance.
"La Esmeralda" translates to "Emerald" in Spanish, a fitting name for this 10-hectare estate nestled within a lush, biodiverse green landscape. Head farmer Hermes Perez is dedicated to sustainable, regenerative agriculture while introducing resilient botanical cultivars to continually elevate coffee quality.
Processed using the traditional washed method, this coffee exhibits outstanding clarity and balance. In the cup, it delivers rich layers of dark chocolate and cocoa, harmoniously paired with delicate forest fruit undertones. It features a full, buttery body, balanced acidity, and a long, clean, sweet finish. An exceptional choice for filter brew methods, offering both approachable comfort for daily drinking and nuanced complexity for specialty coffee enthusiasts.
